What is Interactive Flip-Dot Display?
The meaning of Interactive Flip-Dot Display
An Interactive Flip-Dot Display is a type of digital display technology that uses electromagnetically controlled flip-dots to create visual information. These displays consist of a grid of small metal dots that can be flipped from one side to the other, creating contrasting colors and patterns. Users can interact with the display by sending commands to control individual dots and create dynamic, animated content. Flip-dot displays are often used in public spaces, transportation systems, and advertising to provide real-time information and engage viewers.
Interactive Flip-Dot Display Modes
The Interactive Flip-Dot Display is a kinetic art installation. It has three modes:
1. Video Mode: display video files, static images and text.
2. Interactive Mode: real-time body tracking and display with the included 3D depth camera.
3. Drawing Mode: real-time display drawings from the included touch screen.
The color of dots on the display is customizable. And the size of the installation is customizable as well. Because of its modular design, the installation can be as small as a desktop art gadget made of a single unit, or as big as a wall made of hundreds of units.
About the Flip Disk
It can assembly include a permanent magnet. The selected flip disc changes position according to the controlled change in the magnetic field of a closely coupled electromagnetic coil. The control signal simply reverses the direction of the current pulse through the coil that reverses the magnetic field of the coil. The permanent magnet located in the disc assemble is either attracted or repelled by the field produces in the coil. The flip disc remains in the position to which it was last turned until the coil field is reversed by another current pulse.
This principle works for XY5 panels and , status indicators.
Other principle used for example in small and large seven segment displays uses especially constructed mechanics which gives two positions of equilibrium. A flag is a moving part which is either visible to observer or hidden. It contains a magnet which is either retracted or repelled by electromagnet. The flag is kept in position by combination of mechanical and magnetic forces, however it can be moved manually out of its equilibrium position.
In conclusion, interactive is a kinetic installation that displays real-time hand drawings, videos, still images and text, or interacts with people. If you are interested in it you could leave your detail information and tell us your idea.
