When you first come across these codes, you may be very confused as to what they mean! SMD LED has many types, which are produced in a variety of shapes and sizes, the most common types of LEDs are: 2835, 3030,3535, 5050. Which LED is the brightest? The current and wattage of each type.

1. SMD3030

SMD3030 means that the package size of the led light bead is 3.0*3.0mm.

Characteristics of 3030 SMD LED beads:

② No need to warm up time, lighting response speed faster than the general electric light (about 3 ~ 400ns).

③Easy to small, thin, lightweight, no shape limitations, easy to make a variety of applications.

Chip LEDs are pasted on the surface of circuit boards and are suitable for SMT processing and reflow soldering, while inline LEDs are encapsulated in the form of potting. The process of potting is to inject liquid epoxy resin into the LED molding cavity, and then inserted into the LED bracket welded, placed in the oven to let the epoxy resin curing, the LED from the mold cavity out of the molding. Because the manufacturing process is relatively simple, low cost, has a high market share.

2. SMD3535

The exterior dimension is 3.5 x 3.5 x 2.8mm. The LED beads are larger than SMD2828. It is not suitable for high definition and small spacing LED display. It can be used for outdoor surface mounting P8, P10, P12, 3535. It adopts interior white and exterior black design. The contrast effect is significantly improved. The waterproof gel filling process also uses outdoor surface mounting special silica gel, the thickness of 1.5mm.

3. SMD5050

The 5050 SMD chips measure 50mm x 50mm, which mean that each 5050 SMD is big enough to house four separate LED chips (sometimes called 'quad LEDs').

5050 LED chips are often used on 60 LED-per-metre strip lights, pulling 14.4 watts at 24 volts (commonly called 14.4w p/m or 15w p/m LED tape). With an output of around 990-1080 lumens per metre, depending on colour, this tape gives you a smooth, bright effect when shining onto a surface. These 60 SMD p/m 5050 LED strip lights are typically used for general lighting applications, such as corridor lighting, replacing fluorescent tube lighting, in homes, bars, restaurants, hotels and other locations.


Characteristics of 5050 SMD LED beads:

①low voltage drive, environmental protection and energy saving.

②small size, easy to install.

③high brightness, large scattering angle, good consistency.

④the product is characterized by high temperature resistance, long life, high UV resistance.

4. SMD2835

2835 lamp beads use 2.8*3.5*0.7MM package, 3030 lamp beads use 3.5*2.8*1.9MM package, the biggest difference is that 3030 lamp bead height is 1.9MM, and 2835 lamp bead height is 0.6-0.8MM.


Characteristics of 2835 SMD LED beads:

①2835 high brightness, a single up to 24 lumens (LM), the brightness is 2.8 times of 3528 lamp beads, 3014 lamp beads 1.8 times.

②2835 lamp bead thickness is thin, the thickness is only half of 3528 lamp bead, in the finished product application, the spot is more uniform, the illuminance is wider.

③ 2835 adopts the unique vertical heat dissipation of SMD lamp beads, with heat sink at the bottom, the chip directly conducts the heat sink, the heat dissipation is faster, and there is no heat sink at the bottom of 3528.

1. the package size is different:
